The Memory Project
A friend of mine just invited me to participate in a project that was inspired by the Memory Project. I had never heard of such a thing, but how cool is this? College and high school art students create custom portraits for orphans in foreign countries, where children often grow up without any memoirs or records of their childhood. These portraits give them something to hold onto, to remind them of where they came from.
This project is limited to students, but I know I see a lot of students participate in i-friday every week. Maybe you could pass this onto your teachers and classmates as a potential assignment?
Or if you’re not a student but really inspired, leave a comment here and I’ll give you info on my friend’s project. There is no age limit. Please keep in mind that space is limited.

Hey Katie,
How goes it? I love your work! Glad to see you are still drawing on your on your inner penguin :). Let me know about your friends project. I’d be interested in hearing more about what he’s doign in conjunction with the memory project.

Are you allowed to name, or link to this project of your friend? My portrait skills are not so good, but I’d sure help get the word out. And maybe join in when I’ve had more practice.
