Zinaida Serebriakova, where have you been all my life?
I just stumbled across the work of Zinaida Serebriakova and I couldn’t help thinking “Why isn’t she crazy famous?” It just goes to show that the History of Art really lacks herstory. You can read Zinaida’s life story on Wikipedia and see a small collection of her work right here.

She is very well known in Russia. I’ve seen many of her originals in Moscow museums and have a few albums with her art. There are so many amazing Eastern European artists who are not quite know in the US. Glad you found her!

If you haven’t seen, “Who Does She Think She Is?” Check it out. Great movie about women and art.
