Comic-Con vs. Comic-Clone, the Exclusives
Exclusives are the one arena in which Comic-Clone has the San Diego Comic Convention soundly beat. From costumes to comics and other collectibles, Comic-Con does have a wealth of offerings. BUT would you rather have one of 1000 Captain America toys or a one of kind custom made work of art?
Many people were surprised by the cardboard city that comic-book artist, Seth, has been building. Did you know that his studio is peppered with fanciful projects like that one? He even bound and illustrated his own version of Overstreet’s famous comic book price guide! The front and back covers of his reinterpretation (above) can be seen in Todd Hignite’s book, In the Studio: Visits with Contemporary Cartoonists. The book is full of one-off oddities created by comic book artists.
Christine and I had a great time creating a unique t-shirt (above) for our baby boy. I designed it (after Jack Kirby) and she silk screened it the night before the comic convention. We even made Comic-Clone buttons (below), a tiny homage to some of our favorite books and artists.
So, what’s stopping you from creating your own priceless collectibles? When admirers ask about them, you can say that they were Comic-Clone exclusives!
