Gale Kaseguma is Kidmodern
Gale Kaseguma is one of those artists whose website I’ve had in my bookmarks for ages, and I kinda forgot about, until today when I received an email from her mailing list announcing updates to her site, Kidmodern.com. It’s clean and pretty, easy to navigate, and full of colorful happy art intended for children. Gale’s [...]

Yamauchi Kazuaki
Simple simple simple. And beautiful bright and sunny. That’s how I’d describe Yamauchi Kazuaki’s illustration. The colors are brighter, happier, there’s more depth and detail to the [...]

The Land of Yum
I don’t have children. I don’t buy children’s furniture or toys. I have, however, received the Land of Nod’s catalogs in the mail for 5 years. Why? Because a) the cover is always, always illustrated beautifully, b) the patterns and colors on their products are cheery and inspiring, and 3) I did work in toys [...]

Peter McCarty – Illustration Hero
In my personal pantheon, children’s artist Peter McCarty is absolutely king (where he reigns benevolently, with plenty of chocolate, graphite and quality paper for all) . I haven’t been able to find a tremendous amount about him online, but just take a peek at the (thankfully large) images under the “books” section of his personal [...]
