What you need:
An illustration of your interpretation of the topic
A site to upload it to
A 50x50 pixel thumbnail of your illustration
If you need a web site, you might try starting with a free
account at a public blog or image site, like wordpress.com, google sites, tumblr, or flickr.
Many, including those listed above, are free and easy to set up.
Topics are posted each Friday. You can sign up for the weekly email and
have the topic sent directly to your inbox, or simply check the Illustration Friday site.
The topic is open for your entry until the next topic is posted one week later. Usually the earlier your link appears, the better, so that you have some time on the list for views and comments!
When you complete your illustration of the topic, optionally
create a 50x50 pixel thumbnail. Post your full illustration
to your web page. Then visit the Illustration Friday
site and enter your link and upload your thumbnail. Make
sure your thumbnail is under 12 kilobytes (we know, that's tiny)
by using the save for web or similar feature in your favorite graphics editor.
RULES :
- Links must point to a page on your blog or
web site dedicated to your single image for the topic.
The idea is to make it easy for people to find your illustration,
without lots of scrolling and searching. Links to the top level of your site make it hard to return to your images for a given topic over time. Click
here to learn more about static aka permalink pages.
- When uploading your site url, make sure to include the
entire address, including the http:// .
Incorrect: www.sitename.com
Correct: http://www.sitename.com/illos/topic.html
- Please avoid showing and linking to inappropriate material that may
offend viewers. Use your judgement. Illustration Friday is not responsible
for thumbnails and links posted.
- New work seems to be the most popular, but feel free to use an illustration you have already created if it fits the topic.
- Please submit only one illustration per topic.
